After a storied first year as a band releasing and touring behind their critically acclaimed debut album Today, Galaxie 500 closed out 1988 with a quintessential performance at New York City’s famed CBGB with every bit of their signature intimacy and autumnal bombast on display. The unusual bill which also included Sonic Youth, B.A.L.L. and Unsane was a benefit show for the zine shop See Hear.
Captured here in a raw but inspired board mix by Kramer and restored and mastered from the analog source by Alan Douches at West West Side Music, CBGB 12.13.88 is a live snapshot of a Galaxie fully formed, punctuating the end of their first chapter while poised to step into their next with On Fire the following year.

Compiled by the band it traces their career from among their earliest recorded moments in the studio to their last. Design by Pete Fowler (for Kiko's van!) Kiko Loiacono (aka Dr. Kiko) was a much loved UK and European tour manager for Luna, Mogwai, the Growlers, White Fence, Gruff Rhys and many many others. He passed away in his sleep in 2022, the night before he was to undergo a procedure for a hernia. Kiko was a wild and generous character, he liked to buy multiple copies of his favorite records and give them as gifts. He spent his holidays raising money for refugees in Eastern Europe. In his honor, and after discussing with his sister Ameliana, all profits from these shirts will be donated to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund who provide medical and humanitarian aid to injured and ill children in Gaza and Lebanon (more info at pcrf.net).
This is a pre-order, we are taking orders till June 30, the shirts will be screen printed by Tannis Root in North Carolina and will ship by early August. Shirts are Gildan Softstyle 100% cotton, in unisex sizes S-M-L-XL-2XL-3XL and three colors: red, navy and black.
